There are a lot of affiliate marketing training programs.  Affiliorama is one of the more popular ones.  Let’s take a look at it.

affilorama-pageAffilorama is a community designed around the concept of training people in affiliate marketing.  It was started by Mark Ling in 2005.  It includes a number of tools and membership lessons.  These can get a little confusing because there are so many options.  Here are some of the tools and memberships.

1. Free Membership.  With the free membership, you get access to a number of lessons, a blog, and a forum.  All of these are very good.  The lessons get into topics such as site building, content creation, and SEO.  The blog has a lot of niche ideas for those having trouble picking a niche.  The forum is good as well, though I am not a big fan of forums for support.  They can take a long time to get the support you need.  Finally, you also get Affilotools, a feature that makes it easier to do certain tasks, like keyword research or Google Analytics.

2. Premium membership.  With premium membership, you get additional training, product creation training, an affiliate bootcamp, and free hosting for 15 domains.

3. Affiloblueprint.  Affiloblueprint is a step-by-step training program at Affilorama that walks you through the entire process, from building a website to marketing your website to monetization.  I believe most people who sign up at Affiliorama will want to buy Affiloblueprint.

4. Affilojetpack.  Affilojetpack is a step-by-step training program that covers email marketing.  It provides the entire package: 90 emails scheduled at optimum times, free product offers, and a website built for you, designed to capture email leads.

Pros and Cons

  • Informative lessons
  • Help from the large community of members
  • Free membership to “test drive” the system
  • Everything you need to learn affiliate marketing

  • Confusing list of options and memberships
  • Free membership is very limited
  • Lots of upsells, which can get expensive
  • Most useful information is expensive
  • Some content outdated

Outdated content is a particularly bad problem because not only can it fail to provide any benefit, it can actually do harm.  As an example, backlinks, links to your website from external sources, used to be a good way to increase your website’s status.  However, many affiliate marketers were posting hundreds of identical articles at various sites and using those to link back to their own sites.  They were also using forums extensively.  Google got wise to these practices and implemented its infamous Penguin update to combat such practices.  Penguin actually penalizes sites that use a lot of “low quality” backlinks.  Affilorama appears to include backlink strategies in its training, which could do more harm than good.

Who Is Affilorama For?

  • Intermediate affiliate marketers

Tools and Training

The tools and training you get depend on the level of membership and upsells you choose to buy.  Affilotools is available at all memberships, including the free membership.

If you choose a starter membership, you get training in:

  • Market Research
  • Content Creation
  • Site Building
  • Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Pay Per Click
  • Affiliate Outsourcing

Premium membership promises more advanced training.  Affiloblueprint and Affilojetpack even more so.  Affilorama definitely follows the addage, “You get what you pay for.”

marklingSupport at Affilorama is pretty good.  There is a large community of members available to answer questions.  Affilorama also has a support staff that can help you if you get stuck.  It even has a number you can call for support.  All of this is really good.

One problem I have is that you are not able to contact Mark Ling, the site owner, directly.  Sure, you can post questions in the forum, and he might respond, but there is no guarantee.

Some communities provide direct access to the site owners!

There are several membership levels and upsells available:

  • Free membership – $0
  • Premium Membership – $1 first month; $67 per month after first month
  • Affiloblueprint – $197
  • Affilojetpack – $997

If you are not sure which products you need, Affilorama has a handy tool to determine which one is best for your experience level.

Affilorama vs. Wealthy Affiliate

I am a huge fan of Wealthy Affiliate, so I like to compare affiliate marketing training programs and communities to Wealthy Affiliate to see how they stack up.  Here is a comparison chart:

Rating Recap

thumbs-upAffilorama is a good product with a lot to offer.  However, the major problems I have with the site are:

  • Outdated information
  • Extensive upsells

If Affilorama would update its SEO techniques and offer, as a minimum, Affiloblueprint as part of its premium membership, I think it would definitely be a top competitor with my #1 recommended affiliate marketing program.  As it stands, I still give it a definite thumbs up.

If you have tried Affilorama, I would love to hear from you.  Just drop me a Comment below.

Have a great day!

  1. Hey Andy

Affilorama seems to be pretty good option to check on – at least this is not a scam. I just would like to clear about the cost of Affiloblueprint – you mention it is $197 – is it like one time fee or monthly fee? Have you bought it yourself? Would you suggest me getting it if I am a premium member at Wealthy Affiliate?

    1. Affilorama is definitely not a scam. It is a good program. For Affiloblueprint, you have to have a $67 per month premium membership AND pay a one-time fee of $197. I would say what you get with Affiloblueprint is comparable to your Wealthy Affiliate premium membership, so there is no need to have both. For those just starting out, Wealthy Affiliate is the better value – no $197 upfront charge and a lower monthly price.

  2. Andy,

Thanks for the Affiliorama review and comparison with wealthy affiliate to see them side by side along with the pricing disparity.

Good to know that bit about low quality backlinks. You’re right – outdated information can hurt, especially in the Information Age where information gets stale quickly.

    1. You are right, Mike.  What used to work ten years ago won’t work today.  While it’s true that high quality backlinks can be very beneficial to rankings, they are not easy to get.  It will take a lot of time and effort, time and effort better spent on creating content.

  3. Nice review on a site which, on the surface, resembles Wealthy Affiliate. I’m always leery about sites with a ladder of up sells. You should be able to learn enough from the premium package to learn internet marketing. Can you explain what the Affilojetpack is? For the money they want for it, it must be very good. Thanks for the info. Nice to know that not everyone is a scammer.

    1. Warren, the Affilojetpack is a pretty cool product.  What it amounts to is walking you through the entire process of email marketing, even to the point of having ready made “done for you” emails ready to send out to your list.  One of the nice thing about email marketing is that, unlike something you post on your website, it doesn’t matter if your content is duplicated from other places, so that’s why you can use emails that are created for you and everyone else in the program.  Don’t do that with people promoting “done for you” websites.

Of course, the big drawback to Affilojetpack is the price.  It is so darn expensive that it pretty much excludes most beginners, the people who could benefit most from buying it.  For most beginners, you’re better off just setting up your own autoresponder and manually creating your email marketing content.

  4. Hi there,
That was a great review of Affilorama. I agree with you there are outdated information on their website, which makes it really hard for you to learn. Also, I personally hate the whole up-sells with these kind of platforms. And not to mention their premium fees are way to over my head. But I am glad you and I have found Wealthy Affiliate, a better alternative.

    1. Kay,

You are right. Kyle and Carson totally stay on top of things to keep things up to date. What worked 10 years ago doesn’t work today. You can definitely get yourself in trouble trying to follow old advice.

      Thanks for the comment.
