Getting Started

There is a lot of information here on saving and earning money, and to tell you the truth, it can seem a little overwhelming at times.  I have found the biggest obstacle to doing anything is actually getting started.  Once you get started and start building momentum, that momentum will motivate you and keep you moving forward.  But the big question is: How do I get started?  Well, there are as many ways to get started as there are money making programs out there, but I wanted to lay out what worked for me.

Why Do You Want to Make More Money?

Thinking
Why Do I Want to Make More Money?

Most people skip this step because, to be perfectly honest, it sounds like a waste of time.  What do you mean why do I want to make more money.  Doesn’t everyone?  Well, everyone values money differently, and the reason for that is everyone values different things that money can buy.

For me personally, my top ones are:

  1. Get out of debt.
  2. Travel more.
  3. Get a larger house (possibly with that built-in pool).
  4. Quit working full time and spend more time with my family.

Yours may include some of these, or maybe you have some of your own.  But it is important to establish this first step because, whatever you decide to do to earn more money, it is inevitable that you will experience setbacks.  Your “why” will keep you in the game when these setbacks happen.  In any business venture, the number one reason people quit is because they do not really know why they got into business in the first place.

Get Help

Of course, you can try to do everything on your own.  There is nothing wrong with that.  You will make mistakes, learn from them, and eventually achieve success.  The problem with that path is that your success, though guaranteed as long as you don’t quit, may take a really long time to manifest.  One thing you have to realize is that there are literally thousands of people out there who have made tens of thousands of mistakes and are willing to share those mistakes to prevent others from making them too.  It is really one of the best ways shortcut your path to success.

Face it.  If you want to learn to play tennis or golf, you would probably hire a pro.

Where to Start

Wealthy Affiliate Online Entrepreneur Certification - Getting Started

Fortunately, unlike tennis or golf, you can get tons of free help online.  Just Google “mistakes to avoid when starting a new business,” and you get literally tens of millions of results.  Happy reading!

There is an easier way than Google.  No matter what kind of business you are thinking about starting, if you want to have any online presence at all, I recommend starting at Wealthy Affiliate.

If you sign up at Wealthy Affiliate, here is what you get:

Help Galore

There are over 10,000 registered users at Wealthy Affiliate, and everyone is super friendly and willing to help.  If you have a problem, all you have to do is ask.  Even Kyle, one of the owners of the site, answers every question he gets.  To tell you the truth, I don’t know where he gets the time.

Step-By-Step Training

Wealthy Affiliate will walk you step-by-step through setting up your very own website and promoting it to generate income.  They make it so easy that even someone who dropped out of computer science after a couple of classes can figure it out.  And if you ever get stuck, did I mention that there is “Help Galore!” all over the site.

Two Websites

At Wealthy Affiliate, you will get two websites for your business.  In all likelihood, you will probably initially only use one, but if you do wish to start a second business, it is included in the membership.  And once you get started, you can upgrade to a paid membership and get 50 websites.

Tailored for You

Wealthy Affiliate is not industry-specific.  That means you can apply everything you learn there to whatever business you want to create.  Maybe you are interested in quilting.  Or maybe dog training is your thing.  Maybe you love baby clothes.  Whatever your interests, you can apply what you learn at Wealthy Affiliate to start making money.

What Does All This Cost?

Actually, this is the part I love the most.  You can get a starter membership at Wealthy Affiliate for $0.  Included with that are:

  • Two Websites (with backup)
  • Beginner Training Course
  • Personal Affiliate Blog
  • Phase 1 of Affiliate Bootcamp Training
  • Video Walk-Throughs
  • Two Training Classrooms
  • Access to the Affiliate Program
  • One-on-One Coaching for the First 7 Days

Of course, there is a premium membership that offers lots more training and access, but you are under no obligation to upgrade.  Wealthy Affiliate does not want your credit card number, and there is nowhere on the site to enter it.

    1. I was a little skeptical when I first visited Wealthy Affiliate, but the training is so clear and helpful, I had my website up and running less than a day after signing up for a free account. Lots of great information.

  2. Hey,

Thanks for giving the tips in the right direction!

Personally, I’d say that among “why’s” you mentioned, I’d put “Quit working full time” in the first or second place. I this alone will lead to accomplishing the other three – in time. Of course, if quitting your job isn’t the only thing you want in life.

Btw, is it possible to have more than two Websites at Wealthy Affiliate?

    1. Hi, Dmitriy. I agree that, “Quit working full time,” is near the top of just about everyone’s list.

To answer your question, Wealthy Affiliate has a Premium Membership that will allow you to have up to 50 websites. That is just one of the benefits Premium Membership will get you. Of course, it’s entirely optional; you can keep using the free starter account if you choose. I encourage you to check out my full Wealthy Affiliate Review at http://earnmoresave.com/wealthy-affiliate-review-is-it-a-scam for more info.

  3. This is a good review on wealthy affiliate, this is the best online business model in the world, I don’t think that you can find other business model such as this online. The community is so great everyone wants to see everyone succeed and the tools are so great for make that dream of building a website possible. Wealthy affiliate is the palce to be where dreams do come true. Thanks again for sharing, all the best to you.

    1. Thanks, Norman. I couldn’t agree more. You might be able to find other sites that offer some of what Wealthy Affiliate offers, but I have yet to find anything the offers everything – 50 websites, extensive training, social network, support, feedback – and certainly not for the price. When I first signed up for the free membership, I knew I was hooked. If anyone finds a recipe for success that beats Wealthy Affiliate, I would love to check it out. I don’t think it exists.

  4. This is Deborah Makowski. I have tried four times now to get into a SPOT. How come I can only get so far. I put credit card information in four times now and it keeps giving me a message that there’s an error or I’m entered too soon. What’s up? Am I in or not?

    1. Hi, Deborah.

I am afraid I don’t know what you are referring to. Where did you enter your credit card number? Neither this site nor Wealthy Affiliate require a credit card, so I’m wondering if you entered your comment on the wrong page.

Let me know and I’ll see if I can help.

      All the best.

      Andy
